Haitian music playlists! What time is it? It’s time for yet another Kreyolicious playlist…in which I…in which I do a countdown of music in Haitian Creole and by Haitian artists with a particular theme!

Summer is almost here. The thing about all these things is that they’re perennial. You can use them to dance your way through summer…or if you want to get crunk during fall season. Let’s begin!

Summer Party Aspect: Lawd, where was this song hiding? So Wyclef made a song with the Sweet Micky dude? I really like the part where Wyclef is doing his little stutter-rap. The playful lyrics makes you think of frolicking on the beach, and building sandcastles on a beach in Fort Lauderdale or Miami somewhere.

Summer Party Aspect: This song could also double as a workout song, but for the purpose of this countdown, it’s the groove you need to get your bones aligned correctly after having gone through the laziness of spring.

Summer Party Aspect: What’s Kwe le kweke? God only knows. Is that even Creole? A leftover word from our West African ancestors, perhaps? No matter! This song has all the liveliness that one would associate with summer. With every beat, you can hear water splashing, you can see bright oranges of two-piece bikinis, and sand sprinkling everywhere!

Summer Party Aspect: This song is all about coconuts, and with good reason. Besides palm trees, is there another tree that we associate more with summer? Anybody here workout? I occasionally do! But, not really. I’d rather dance. So, how about a dance workout…set to some Haitian music. The perfect excuse to put together yet another Kreyolicious Playlist! Haitian fitness music.
