Let us for a minute examine this couplet…If you’re familiar with the book of Matthew, you know that the first instance of a human walking on water was Jesus…who also gave Simon Peter the power to do so as well. When Peter’s faith faltered, and he fell…Jesus told him that if only he had the faith of a mustard seed. So, in context of these lyrics, both parties in a relationship have to be prepared to have faith in one another…hopefully bigger than that of a mustard seed. And the latter part of those lyrics…carrying someone else on your back means total support…You want to be their backbone…when their own breaks down…Such powerful lyrics.
