Vintage Haitian music galore! Ostinato Records, an independent firm specializing in the packaging of world music has released Tanbou Toujou Lou (Them Drums Still Heavy), a 19-song collection of retro recordings recorded in Haiti.

Released in CD format, the record features more than two decades of music by Haitian artists and bands in jazz, meringue, konpa and roots genre.

Some of the groups listed are unknown to me. Actually, haven’t seen most of these bands’ names in print: Zotobre, Les Gypsies de Petionville, Les Loups Noirs, Tabou Combo (have heard of this group), Coupe Cloue et Trio Select.

It also features a song by Rodrigue Millien, who I previously wrote about in a past of edition of CHAPO BA (that you can read here).
