Jozy Altidore hyped up fellow USA team soccer player DeAndre Yedlin during a friendly game with Guatemala in Tennessee over the weekend. The game took place at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville (capacity 68,798). Prior to the game, Jozy was interviewed by USA Today sports writer John Glennon and he reminisced about being in Nashville in 2009, and scoring a goal that led to a World Cup qualification for his team. He said:

“I feel like it was such a long time ago, but it was an exciting time. I think it was in a lot of ways a turning point for the program when you look back at that time and where we’ve come to now. We just keep improving year in and year out, and it’s really fun to be a part of.”

It must be nice to reflect on the past, while at the same time mentally preparing for more future greatness.
